More about Sprouts Family Day Care

My vision for Sprouts Family Day Care is a nurturing, inspiring, natural, supportive environment for your little Sprouts to grow and be all that they can be. Like many other parents in our current times I didn’t have family members nearby to provide child care or siblings or cousins for Marcus to create close relationships with. Marcus has been in FDC for two years now and the benefits to him and myself have been enormous. This experience inspired me to start the process of becoming an Educator, to provide this rewarding and vital service to other families.

About Jeannine Joy
I have a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development and I have worked in Corporate Social Responsibility for 4 years before taking maternity leave and a career change. I have a three and half year old boy named Marcus.
I have been a Relief Family Day Care Educator for a year working with Angela Price at her FDC Wholesome Beginnings. I have almost completed A Cert III in Early Childhood Education. I am doing my final practical hours at the Steiner inspired Children’s Garden Melville. I am also currently completing a course Heart of Parenting with Jo Field.

Sprouts Family Day Care will be opening 14th of July. Opening hours will be 7:30am-4:30pm. I am opening to under fours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I will be providing all meals home cooked on these days. Fridays will be open to school aged children for our adventure day. I will also be open casually on weekends including overnights so Parents can have some time to be nurtured too.
Please come along to our Play Date 8th of July 9:30am-12:30pm, to meet me and the environment. I will be sending out the parent handbook to those that express interest in booking a place in the next week. The handbook will have the information you need to enroll.

My Philosophy

Emotional Security

I believe the most important work as an educator is creating a connection with each child. I believe children need to feel connected and safe with the environment and care giver to be able to play and learn. Essential to creating this connection is the celebration of your child as they are. All emotions are allowed and validated. I avoid the use of labels either in positivity or negative light. I work with the child to find ways to relate well to the other children, keep safe boundaries and find ways to feel better when missing mum and get back to the work of childhood; play.

Focus On Outdoor Play

Sprouts is very fortunate to be located across the road from the great park at Enright Reserve. We will be spending a lot of time at the park exploring the different elements of the park.
As well as bringing additions such as balls, sand pit. I believe in allowing the children to take calculated risks to test and extend the limits of their bodies.

Getting Messy

We will also be collecting natural materials at the park for craft and mud kitchen activities. Mud kitchen play will be a prominent part of the programing. Sand, water, clay, plants and cooking gear provide endless variations for sensory, co-operative and imaginative play.

Nutritious food

I will be providing home cooked morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. I am passionate about healthy, sustainable food as food is our most basic and important connection to the earth. I am excited about developing garden beds with the children so that they can pick their own food. We already have lemons and greens ready to pick and we will have almonds and other veg later in the year. I am experienced in cooking for special dietary needs,

Home Schooler’s Adventure Friday

I am passionate about natural learning and love facilitating play based learning experiences for children. Home schooling can be relentless for parents, but there is a way to get some ‘me time’. Most school aged children are eligible for up to 24 hours government subsidised ‘out-of-school care’. Home schooled children are eligible for this 24 hours of care. Your school aged child can receive this care in my normal operating hours of 7:30am-4:30pm.
Marcus and I have a tradition of going on adventures on Fridays. We would love it if other children could join us exploring the huge variety of natural and educational places in our city. We catch buses and trains to get to out destinations which can sometimes have more learning experiences on the journey than the destination. Each child will have a journal and photographs taken to reflect on the adventure if they choose. At the end of the day we will decide as a group where we would like to go the following week.
