More about Tamworth Film and Sound Archive

The Tamworth Regional Film and Sound Archive preserves our regional film and sound heritage.

Formed in 1995 as the The New England Film and Sound Archive and now The Tamworth Regional Film and Sound Archive houses about 8,000 cans and cassettes of local and regionally produced visual material and over 20,000 items on the database, plus historical audio material.

Tamworth and regional material dates back to 1916 and includes many local collections. Equipment donated by Prime TV and others enables us to play as well as copy most formats.

You are most welcome to visit our office at Tamworth Regional Council, Ray Walsh House in Peel Street. We operate just like a library so you can borrow or buy material on DVD, video or tape – for research or viewing or listening.

Please make an appointment by contacting us on the phone number provided and a friendly volunteer will greet you and show you around.

Volunteers needed: We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to assist with research and cataloguing of our collection, to tend the Archive space and help with copying. The work is very interesting and rewarding, so please contact us.

Become a Member: You can join the Archive as a member - you will be rewarded with the experience of preserving our vision and audio history for future generations.
