Kings Park Bungendore

Kings Park is planned to provide approximately 760 low and medium density residential homes and associated uses including a high school, community hub and significant areas of public open space providing a green spine through the site.

Kings Park will deliver a diversity of block sizes to provide current and future residents of Bungendore with housing choice. Homes will vary from medium density villas and townhouses, through to traditional quarter-acre blocks, accommodating single-parent families, down-sizers and first home owners. There will also be larger 1,500m² to 2,000m² lots with generous gardens and plenty of room for the kids to play.

Currently there are approximately 500 children at Bungendore Primary School. Due to the lack of secondary school options, many of these families will relocate to Canberra once children reach high-school – a social planning phenomenon known as “churn”. By designating land for a new secondary school, Kings Park will meet the educational needs of residents and will encourage families with high-school aged children to remain in Bungendore. This will reinforce the social capital of Bungendore and will contribute to strengthening the sense of community.

Kings Park will facilitate a self-sufficient and self-sustaining community by contributing an estimated:

+ $76 million in expenditure on civil construction
+ $150 million in expenditure on housing construction
+ $20 million for the construction of the new high school and playing fields
+ $10 million towards the construction of supporting infrastructure
+ 500 jobs during construction
+ 120 ongoing jobs associated with the high school and generated in association with the additional residential population
+ $25 million in Section 94 Development Contributions and $1.87 million annual increase to the rates base to assist Council in the delivery of local services and infrastructure.
