More about King Street

King Street is a brand new street for Brisbane! Located at the Brisbane Showgrounds and currently under ‘creation’, King Street will be 300 metres long, connecting St Paul’s Terrace and Gregory Terrace.

With the physical creation of the street now underway, over the next few years King Street will evolve with residents living above and an entertainment and working precinct surrounding. It will provide a treasure of shops, cafes, bars, street activity, fresh food grocers and other delightful spaces.

King Street will be unlike any other in Brisbane. Inspired by its agricultural roots and living history of the Brisbane Showgrounds, King Street will be as real as it comes. Our retailers will be authentic, rustic, charming and offer a creativity and innovation in food, dining, fashion and artisan-inspired produce that will pop a smile on your face.

Drawing on the 138-year history of the Showgrounds, and its main events – the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) and Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show – you can expect to see divine produce, glorious baked delicacies, award-winning wine and cheese, mouth-watering gold medal winning beef, boutique beer, artisan quilts and embroidered fashion…get the picture!

King Street will be a relaxed and inspiring place to be, where you can have a laugh with your local shop owner, meet the winemakers, enjoy an espresso martini with your mates or perhaps attend a weekend preserve-making workshop.

By mid-2015 the first section of King Street will welcome you…and you will become part of the Brisbane Showgrounds living history. We can’t wait for you to write the next chapter of the story.

King Street is the outcome of a partnership between Lend Lease and the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland. A key feature of the Brisbane Showgrounds redevelopment, King Street will provide accessibility and linkages between Fortitude Valley and the showgrounds and will embody the development’s 4 defining pillars: modern history; paddock to plate; eclectic; and hyper-local.
