Help for Dairy is an initiative started by District 14 Headquarters East Brigade.
With members who have dairy farming backgrounds, the brigade was aware that some rural communities are doing it tough with the dairy crisis. Brigades in affected communities could find it harder to raise funds, and be unable to approach local businesses already affected by downturn.
So an idea formed –a sister program which partners metropolitan brigades with country brigades to raise $1,000. This would assist brigades in dairy impacted areas to purchase small equipment, without the need to approach their community to buy raffle tickets or sell sausages.
A cash donation enables brigades to have dignity of choice in how and when they spend the funds. Additionally, sister brigades might also be able to provide training avenues, an exchange visit or surplus equipment.
