Founder of Yokoyama Japanese restaurant, Takuji Yokoyama honed his culinary skills in Tokyo, Japan before coming to Melbourne to experience Australian life which was far different from his home. Soon after he realised that he loved life in Melbourne and wished to share his knowledge of Japanese cusine. He then began working at several Japanese restaurants while seeking to also improve his own cooking, especially in the art of creating sushi. It was not until several years later that he realised he wanted to imbue his own style and flavours in traditional Japanese food. In pursuit of his own path of cooking he opened the first Yokoyama Japanese restaurant and presented customers with his own unique take on Japanese cuisine.
