Yarraman Park is renowned as one of Australasia’s most successful vendors at the elite Australian yearling and breeding stock sales, consistently producing top quality individuals presented in premium condition for sale.

With a proven track record for producing stakes horses and countless winners, Yarraman Park is a popular name with buyers seeking out stars for the future in the mould of past Yarraman sold/raised graduates such as Snitzel, Rewaaya, Amelia’s Dream, Hinchinbrook, Here de Angels, Lorne Dancer, Viking Hero, Craig’s Dragon, Bliss Street, Speedy Natalie, We’re Gonna Rock, etc.

Yarraman Park consistently features amongst the leading vendors at the major sales by average and aggregate with high clearance rates indicative of our willingness to meet the market and achieve the best result possible for our clients.

Yarraman Park Stud set a unique record at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when we sold the three highest priced yearlings of the sale including top colt and filly.

The Redoute’s Choice colt from Deja Slew (USA) set a new Australian record price for a yearling colt when he was knocked down at $3million to leading South African trainer Charles Laird.

He was followed less than half an hour later by the Redoute’s Choice colt from Exact who fetched $2.3 million to the bid of bloodstock agent Tim Stakemire.

During the last session of the three-day sale, widely regarded as the finest in the Southern Hemisphere, Yarraman produced a superstar filly in the full sister to four-time Group One winner Alinghi.

By Encosta de Lago from Oceanfast, the filly attracted worldwide attention before being secured by Irish agent Demi O’Byrne with a winning bid of $2.6 million, a new Australasian record price for a yearling filly.

At the Magic Millions 2007 January Yearling Sale, Yarraman set a Magic Millions record price for a filly when a Redoute's Choice filly from Snippets’ Lass - Full sister to Snitzel - fetched $1.4 million.

At the Inglis 2007 Easter Broodmare sale Yarraman broke the record price for a thoroughbred sold at public auction when dual Group One winning Virage de Fortune sold for $3.4 million.

At the recent Inglis Easter Broodmare sale Yarraman sold the second and third highest priced mares Banc de Fortune to James Bester for $800,000 and Oceanfast was sold for $700,000 to dissolve a partnership with Yarraman, who were delighted to retain 50% of the marvellous mare and return her to Yarraman Park.

HISTORY

Yarraman Park Stud has been home to thoroughbreds for over 100 years, dating back to the early 1900’s when the Thompson family raised many fine horses on the farm including the great champion Eurythmic, foaled in 1916.

Eurythmic won 30 races in all, beginning his racing career in Western Australia by winning the Karrakatta Plate, WATC Derby and Perth Cup before venturing east where he defeated the best horses of the time and claimed victory in races such as the Caulfield Cup.

Yarraman Park Stud came into the ownership of the Mitchell family in 1968 after it was purchased from legendary jockey, George Moore.

James Mitchell had visited Yarraman Park in 1966 and was so impressed by the stud and the area that he made George promise to give him the "first right of refusal" if he ever decided to sell.

Yarraman Park has been a family owned and run operation for 42 years and is now under the charge of brothers Arthur and Harry Mitchell, who bring to the stud a lifetime of international and local experience in the industry.

They are supported by an excellent team of staff, who share the Mitchell's commitment to the professional and personal service that only a family owned business can provide.

LOCATION

Yarraman Park is nestled amongst the picturesque rolling pastures of the Upper Hunter and is situated 7kms from Scone and a 3-hour drive north of Sydney.

The Upper Hunter is the heartland of Australia's thoroughbred breeding industry and as such offers breeders unparalleled access to the best the industry has to offer, including the Equine Research Centre and the new Scone Racecourse.
