Wongaburra Arabians - Endurance Training & Breeding

Hi, my name is Jo Davis and I grew up on a 1000acre property in country NSW – Bathurst to be exact. My parents, John and Jackie Davis, started Wongaburra Stud (an Arabian Breeding Stud) in the late 1950's in Regentville near Penrith.

Wongaburra Lady and Wongaburra Rebel were the first two foals born in 1960. They continued to breed Arabians throughout the 60’s and 70’s to late 80’s, having been lucky enough to have owned the beautiful stallion Omar, who was the first Arabian to have been also registered as an Australian Stock Horse.

Wongaburra moved to the outskirts of Bathurst in 1971 and continued to breed many pure and part breeds throughout the 1970’s up until the mid 1980's. Wongaburra’s last breeding season was 1985 - due to the sale of the family property.

In 2005 I was fortunate enough to meet Narelle Allport and she owned a Wongaburra mare - Wongaburra Firedance, aka Lady. Unfortunately then EI hit and any plans were crushed.

Late 2008, out of the blue Narelle contacted me and asked if I was still interested in leasing Lady....of course I was. Very soon, Lady was on horse transport and delivered straight to Ralvon Stud. There Lady was served by Ralvon Mark. On October 10, 2009 Lady gave birth to a beautiful bay filly Roxy (Wongaburra New Era) and so was born the New Era of Wongaburra Stud
