Wombat Sheds are timber framed traditional looking dwellings built to a higher specification and standard than your usual steel shed. They can easily be converted to be used as a liveable dwelling ie Class 1 under Terms described in the Building Act 2004 Most steel sheds do not conform to these specifications and are classed as class 10a buildings under the same act (meaning concrete flooring is legally less thick, less windows, etc) which makes it very difficult to convert one of these into a legal liveable building. If you want to retro-fit one of these steel sheds to become a dwelling in most instances it would be easier to demolish the shed and start again.
