About Dr. Agarwal

DrSmita Agarwal has performed over 10,000 surgeries with outstanding results. She is the Head of Ophthalmology at Wollongong &Shellharbour Hospitals. DrAgarwal provides services ranging from routine eye exams to the treatment of serious, sight-threatening treatments for patients of all ages. In particular, she specializes in cataract surgery, laser eye surgery, pterygium excision, ectropion and entropion and eye lid surgery.

Dr Agarwal finished her Ophthalmology training at Monash Medical Centre in Victoria where she completed her advanced training in cataract surgery. It is here where she found her passion for giving people the gift of sight. Since then Dr Agarwal has worked at Westmead Eye Hospital where she passed her knowledge on to Ophthalmology registrars for roughly three years. In addition, to this Dr Agarwal has authored many research papers and case reports within Australia and overseas which have been published in the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, Journal of Ophthalmic & Plastic Surgery and the Medical Journal of Australia.

The ability to see can change a person’s life, and that is why Dr Agarwal often participates in visits to less privileged countries to provide free medical treatment to people who don’t have the privileges of basic eye care like we do here in Australia.
