Whistlewood

For three generations, Whistlewood, the McCullochs' family home, studio and gallery overlooking Westernport Bay on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, has been the base for their work in the arts as art critics, art historians, curators and art book publishers. Whistlewood has hosted some of the most famous names of the Australian and international arts world. This 1870s renovated cottage features art, books, memorabilia and the studio of the well-known art critic, artist, art historian, curator and gallery director, Alan McCulloch, which he and Arthur Boyd designed and built in 1952.
Today, this historic house is augmented by an ever-changing array of Australian art - including the magnificent Indigenous art identified by Susan McCulloch and Emily McCulloch Childs in their regular trips to Aboriginal communities, as well as other historical and contemporary Australian art.
It provides the perfect setting for exhibitions, events, talks and private viewings.
