Westscott Horse Agistment

Westscott owners, Kevin & Margaret Scott, and manager, Melanie Bloom, met nearly 20 years ago through their mutual love of horses. It was then that the seed was planted to somehow someday have a horse enterprise together. So it was just over 10 years ago that the Scotts bought ‘Westscott’, a run down sheep property, and transformed it into the beautiful little bit of horse heaven it is today.
Melanie studied for a BSc in Equine Science in England, specialising in breeding, and has been working with horses for over 20 years. She ran a farm stay with trail riding and also managed the breeding side of a family polo business for 14 years, and is presently working part time on a Thoroughbred stud. She lives on site to look after things while work keeps Kevin & Margaret away from the farm much more than they would like.

Westscott runs a small breeding programme, breeding eventing horses under the ‘Bloomers’ prefix, with the help of professional rider, Jade Findlay. Jade works our young horses ready to sell on, and also competes Bloomers Twinkletoes, a 3* horse bred by Melanie and owned by Margaret, and in return keeps her broodmares and young horses, spellers and retirees at Westscott. Jade has just started working with the 4yo colt, Bloomers Simply the Best (stable name George), by Sunny Boy (Sandro Hit), who has also just welcomed his first foal, a lovely filly who has great things in store.
