Homeopathy means 'similar disease'. Sometimes it is spelt Homoeopathy.

The body is designed to restore itself to health. But sometimes it needs a helping hand. In Homeopathy this is done by administering any substance that in tests on healthy people have caused a unique and similar symptom picture to that of the disease. Drinking sips of hot tea during heat exhaustion to assist the body in eliminating heat quicker by perspiration would be considered Homeopathic treatment.

Homeopathy does not treat a disease based on one or two common symptoms with a powerful drug. We need peculiar symptoms to make an accurate prescription, not just a disease name. A specific remedy is prescribed based on these symptoms and sometimes the patient's constitution. A constitutional remedy is simply a Homeopathic remedy that has been known to have a more marked effect on a particular type of person.

Homeopathy treats the whole person and the whole dis-ease as safely and efficiently as possible. Homeopathy does not seek to attack one single part or symptom of dis-ease. Homeopathy gently stimulates and activates a return to health. The language does not suggest war on or destroying a disease symptom, but rather the language of stimulation and increasing vitality.
