More about Wandrous Willow

The significance of the Willow Tree.

Have you ever pondered the sacredness of plants and animals? Many different cultures valued the knowledge and mystical wisdom of Nature. Long before modern science and medicines, people turned to nature and her cycles, to the stars and animals signs for both medicinal healing and sacred guidance.
For the Ancient Celts, the Willow tree wood has long held an association to the psychic and intuitive energy, due to its connection to water. Dryads, druids, bards and ovates all understood this connection and, as with all things connected to the water, the Willow is considered connected to the psychic realm.
The Willow trees ruling planet is the Moon, due to the strong links to water being moved by the pull of the moon. These links were considered highly important to the Celtic spiritual leaders and the wood used from the Willow tree are said to invoke deeper connections to intuition, understanding and psychic vision. The Willow is incredibly flexible being able to withstand being bent into many poses without breaking, which is a strong spiritual metaphor for adaption under pressure.
Other connections the Willow tree has relate to the Snowy Owl and Hawke, Moonstone, the colour Silver and to Deities such as Hecate, Persephone, Artemis, Luna, Cerridwen, Brigit and Selene and also to the Sabbat Beltane.
The magical properties of the Willow relate to creativity, healing, protection, inspiration, binding to name a few. The tree also has connections to immortality, due to its ability to regrow in moist ground from a fallen branch. Wands made from the Willow have many uses, though with strong connections to the moon, these can be used for rituals associated with the moon, for protection work and healing

This page was created to showcase and sell my beautiful handcrafted wands and staffs.
Where possible I source my feathers from nature itself which means each feather is as unique as it is beautiful. Naturally sourced feathers are perfectly imperfect, as nature intended, and will be from a variety of local bird species including Owl, Eagle, Hawke, Crow/Raven, Rosella and Cockatoo. Feathers may also be sourced online and include Peafowl, Pheasant and Parrot.
I have a preference for using natural twines such as waxed hemp and cotton and all wands and staffs are lovingly created from branches shed by the old Crazy Willow tree in my yard. Occasionally used may also be Oak branches from the majestic old Oak that adorns the entrance to this property. All crystals are carefully selected for the Wands and Staffs by me. Custom creations are welcomed and will incur an additional fee; however feather, crystals and design will be intuitively guided.
