Wallaby Cottage offers Short Term Holiday Accommodation as a Private Self Contained Cottage in natural rainforest setting, on a private property adjoining Pioneer Peaks (The Leap) National Park.
Wallaby Cottage is conveniently located less than 1 km from the Bruce Highway, and is walking distance to local attractions, 'That Sapphire Place' and the Historic 'Leap Hotel'.

A nature lovers' and bird watchers' paradise only 15 minutes North of Mackay!
Wake up to the call of Kookaburras, or the scratching of Scrub Turkeys or the shy echidna, amongst the leaf litter under the rainforest canopy outside your bedroom window. Walk outside and startle the Wallabies grazing on the lush green lawn of your own private cottage, nestled in natural rainforest on a private property which borders The Leap National Park.

All linen and towels are supplied in the simply furnished cottage.
Wallaby cottage has one large combined bedroom and lounge, containing a double bed, lounge chairs, coffee table, TV, DVD, desk and chair.
The ensuite bathroom has a shower, hand basin and toilet.
The second room in the cottage contains a full size billiard table, table and chairs, and the kitchenette, which is equipped with a microwave, bar fridge, small sink, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery.
Parking is under cover and adjoins the cottage, especially convenient in our wet season

Visitors can take a leisurely 15 minute stroll to the local gallery, (That Sapphire Place), the historic Leap Hotel or The Leap Country Markets.

Local Attraction, 'That Sapphire Place' allows visitors to observe the rare, expert skill of resident Commercial Gem Cutter, Peter Harrington in his Workshop situated inside the free entry gallery. That Sapphire Place boasts the finest quality collection, of rare and precious sapphires of all colours on the Queensland coast. (That Sapphire Place is open WED - SAT from 10am to 4pm).
Adjacent to the gallery is the historic Leap Hotel (Built 1886), custodians of the famous statue of Kowaha, 'Legend of The Leap', learn her story over a drink with the locals at the main bar, or enjoy a meal in the lounge. Lunches available MON - SAT (12 - 2), Dinners available MON - SAT (6 - 8). The Sunday afternoon music session and BBQ lunch on the breezy, open verandah is very popular with locals and visitors alike!
The Leap Country Markets are held the first Sunday of every month, (weather permitting), at The Leap Hall grounds.
