UWA BioMedical Sciences Association

The UWA BioMedical Sciences Association (BMS) is a Guild affiliated club that represents the medical sciences students at the University of Western Australia.

The Association provides a common meeting ground for staffs and undergraduate students studying the following majors: Pathology & Laboratory Medicine; Pharmacology; Microbiology & Immunology and Biomedical Science
as well as postgraduate students studying at the School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The Association was established to enrich students’ university experience, career prospects, and their interest in the medical sciences.

We seek to collaborate and create partnerships between the researchers, professional bodies and students who are interested in the medical sciences.

Internship programs will be established so that the undergraduate students can gain further research, practical and laboratory experience that is essential for the scientific workforce, before stepping into a Masters or PhD.

The Association offers students with conferences in the medical science field to enhance students’ interest in their interested area. We will also provide career talks so that students can establish connections with industrial laboratories and potential future employers.

We will offer social events in partnership with other clubs and faculty societies to enhance medical science students’ wellbeing. The Association will also provide guidance to first year students in their unit choices.

The UWA BioMedical Sciences Association is NOT exclusive to medical sciences students. Regardless of what you are studying, you are more than welcome join BMS if you are a UWA student interested in the medical sciences.
