USC Student Mentor Program

If you are commencing undergraduate study or Tertiary Preparation Pathway you are automatically matched to a student mentor at Orientation during the Meet your Mentor Sessions.

Who are student mentors?

Student mentors are:
•second or third year students who have 'been there and done that', and know what you are going through
•trained in effective communication and leadership skills
•are volunteers

What can a student mentor do for you?

A student mentor can:
•put you in touch with other students from your faculty by organising informal group meetings
•answer general questions about the University
•give you a better idea about how to handle university study
•direct you to the appropriate services on campus
•be a friendly face on campus
•take you on a campus tour
•keep in regular email contact, giving you information throughout the semester about the services available to students
•make time for personal contact

What a student mentor cannot do for you

A student mentor cannot:
•be your personal tutor
•help you with your assignments
•give you advice on course content

How do I get a student mentor?

If you did not link up with your student mentor at Orientation, please check your USC student email for an invitation to meet your mentor in Week One or Week Two. If you have not had contact from a student mentor by the end of Week Two, please complete the online registration form below.
