The Urrbrae House Historic Precinct is situated on the Waite Campus of the University of Adelaide on land gifted by Peter Waite to the University in 1914 to be used in the future as
a) an agricultural research and teaching facility and
b) as a public park or garden.
The estate was handed over to the University in February 1923 after the deaths of Peter and Matilda Waite in 1922.

The Urrbrae House Historic Precinct includes
a) Urrbrae House, completed in 1891 as the Waite family home.
b) The House Gardens, redeveloped in the 1990s to be sympathetic to the original gardens surrounding Urrbrae House.
c) The Battery House believed to be the first purpose built domestic powerhouse in South Australia.
d) Peter Waite's Garage.
e) The Coach House, which housed the first laboratory of the Waite Agricultural Research Institute.

Visitors to the Precinct may park in the Urrbrae House carpark; enter off Fullarton Road onto Walter Young Avenue, Urrbrae.
