I grew up in Australia the son of Italian immigrants. "Mangia, mangia e mangia" - Eat, eat, come on eat, were my mother's words to me every day as she placed a bowl of spaghetti al pomodoro or parmigiana di melanzane in front of me.
She would then open my school bag to find my lunch uneaten. Crumbed veal cutlets, salami and cheese or fettine alla pizzaiola (veal in a tomato and garlic sauce) was what she usually packed. I was too embarrassed to eat it so I’d go
to the canteen like the “Aussie” kids and buy a meat pie or sausage roll dribbling in sauce.
How things have changed in Australia!!!!
