As a doula, my goal is to help pregnant women to achieve their desired birth through education, encouragement & support.

I'm also a qualified HypnoBirthing® practitioner, so I can do private HypnoBirthing® classes for pregnant women/couples in the South West of Western Australia.

I'm located in Dardanup, Western Australia however I'm happy to help women from all over the South West of WA. Feel free to email me if you’re looking for a doula for your upcoming birth and I’d be happy to chat with you about your options, birth desires and even overcoming fears if you have them. My email address is ashmore@westnet.com.au and my website is www.trustbreathebirth.com.au

Or if you don’t live near me, don’t stress! I also have my blog which may interest you. I tend to write about whatever is going on in my head at the time, so a lot of it is about birth, with a bit about family life, being a Mum & homeschooling in there as well :)

I also like to use this page as a wisdom and experience sharing resource, so if you have anything you want to ask or share, feel free to post on the wall and see what other Mumma's have to say on the subject! No medical advice is ever given on this page... just pure old fashioned mother to mother support and conversation.

A BIT ABOUT ME...

I have three daughters aged 6, 4 & 2. After experiencing three not so perfect births I wish I could go back and do things differently.

But I can't turn back time so I have instead decided to help other women have empowering birth experiences!

A QUICK SUMMARY OF MY BIRTH EXPERIENCES...

I didn't educate myself on birth before my first daughter was born which was a huge mistake. My first daughter was born via emergency c-sec after "failing to progress" after a long, hard labour.

This meant I was hooked up to monitors for my VBAC with my second daughter. Due to this, even though I had no pain relief throughout the birth, I was unable to get up off my back and move during labour which led to massive tearing and a long recovery. But it was a successful VBAC and the feeling of empowerment I got afterwards was amazing! I would have done it again in a second! This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!

After my first 2 births, I decided to book an elective c-sec for my third because I figured at least I would know what I was getting into in regards to the recovery time (it turns out I didn't - the first c-sec recovery was MUCH easier). It ended up being emergency c-sec though because I went into labour naturally. Then I found out afterwards that I had almost made it! I was 5cm and progressing just before they started with the c-sec. If only I had waited a few more hours...

After doing a lot of research myself I decided to do the official training as well so that I could help others learn from my experiences. While studying, I realised that I could pretty much pinpoint the mistakes I made during labour and if I could do it over again I truly believe I would have been able to birth all 3 babies naturally with no problems.

"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new."
