Thirteen 05 Gallery

While Emma McAdam-Marmont and Struan Hopwood were sitting on the banks of Vltava River in Prague on the 13th of May 2016, solving the problems of the world over beer or two, “Thirteen 05” was born.

After dreaming separately and planning for years together, Emma and Struan both resigned from their advertising and television production jobs in late 2016, to take the leap of faith into the gallery space.

It was the devastating loss of a very dear friend earlier that year that was the catalyst for this life change.

Emma and Struan are two passionate creatives. Struan is from South Africa and Emma was born in New Zealand. The pair live, eat and breathe art.

It is only due to the generosity and support from their loving families, they have been able to embark on this venture. The space is shared with DCD (Daylesford Cottage Directory). Owners Jo and Greg have given creative license to Emma and Struan, for the two to paint and fit out this beautiful gallery.

The walls have been painted in a way that gave these two artists freedom of expression. Using a number of tools, the strokes are random and inconsistent and the result is even better than what they had hoped for. Visitors to the gallery have described the space as open, bright, airy, sexy, moody, stunning and incredibly calming.

Thirteen O5 also supports local artists working in a variety of media.
