The Woodsdale Museum was founded by a group of enthusiastic history buff volunteers in the Levendale and Woodsdale area in 2004. The Tasmanian Fire Serviced owned the old school which was built in 1884 and closed down in 1965. We have a 20 year lease at a "pepper corn" rent.
With Federal, State and Local grants the school was transformed into a museum telling the history of settlement in the areas from the 1830s.
The museum is run by volunteers and has gone from strength to strength over the years running yearly Back to Woodsdale Picnic days, Stepping Back in Time for school groups, regular luncheon and tours for various groups and much more.
The museum is open every Sunday or by appointment.
