More about The Strength Project PT

I have been wanting to complete Cert IV Personal Training for a long time now.

I started the course after being involved in Strength Training...more specifically Power Lifting and for the last 12mths I have competed several times.
I have always loved weights, being strong and generally being fit and healthy.
I love the natural high and the feeling of accomplishment.
From a young age I was competitive and gymnastics was my passion.
It was an individual sport and I thrived on being a perfectionist in a world of dainty petite small framed girls...... I was considered large for the sport.
Did it have an impact on me ???? sort off..( not at the time, much later yes)

I'm my later 20's I joined a gym and found Body Building. Once again the love of weight training fuelled that passion. But I starved myself all to "look good".
Then love and my future husband, Mr Shaun Whittaker and I had children and I stopped exercising all together.
My body weight spiralled towards 100kg, I was mid 30's and did not want to be over weight when I got to the BIG 4 0
I joined a Crossfit Box and with my dedication and competitive nature started shedding the kilo's.
Crossfit introduced me to Olympic Lifting and powerlifting.
It was like a duck to water, so much energy for it I just wanted to be better and lift heavy things.
So I found a local coach and I have to give him a mention, Mr Cory Burrows, as its his name "The Strength Project".
On my 40th I competed in Melbourne at the IPF Master Nationals- set some records and came 1st.
All through my power lifting training. I learnt so much about myself.

The name of the game is to obviously lift as heavy as you can...so for once in my 30 years of fitness I did not worry about what I looked like, no mirrors no rabbit food...
What mattered was the weight on the bar and guess what happened for me..I lost body fat due to the training style and sensible eating.
I was looking and feeling better than I have in a long time.
I was mentally fit with alot more confidence. I handled life better, I handle problems much easier. I could tackle just about anything head on. Strength training made me feel like I could do anything. Making the lifts I couldn't make before, knowing that it was all my effort, it was me pushing that bar, no one else. That feeling I wish I could bottle....and that my friends is why I want to be a PT.

This is what I want to bring to my clients..
More energy
To be happy with yourself
Bring more confidence
Love life
Challenge yourself
Set yourself some goals
Be accountable for your life
Don't settle for mediocre
One life one chance
Tomorrow never comes

Who doesn't want to feel better. I did so I changed.
