G'Day. I have been a Sheep Shearer for 27 years. I started Shearing when I was 17 years old in 1989. I worked for local shearing contractors in the Central West and Travelled in our winter to Scotland where I worked as a shearer on portable shearing trailers in their summer for 10 years. I met my wife, Dizzy (Deirdre) in Scotland whilst shearing her parents sheep. We were married in 2001 and she moved back to Australia with me in early 2002. We have 3 children, Bridget, Sadie and Fergus, who are all very good with animals. I continued to Shear full time for another 2 years. I then started a Sheep and Cattle Pregnancy Scanning business in 2004. The Scanning season runs from February to July. I then go Shearing from August till January. In 2015 I saw a real need for a Portable Sheep Shearing and Animal Husbandry Trailer in the Central West of NSW. There are many Hobby Farmers who don't have access to adequate facilities to get their sheep shorn and other Commercial Farmers who have sheep on rural land away from their normal farm operations who have to truck sheep back to the home farm to get them shorn. The Shearing Trailer fills a real niche in this area. Our main priority is Animal Welfare. I get tremendous satisfaction out of seeing the sheep come in a animal friendly, low stress trailer and go out the other end shorn cleanly, drenched or vaccinated for worms, feet trimmed, back lined for lice control, ready to eat grass again.
