The Sewing Room - Dressmaker & Alterations

We are an Adelaide based small business operating in Mawson Lakes. Our owner & seamstress/dressmaker has over 5 years’ experience in the clothing & fashion industry from designing her own line of clothing that has appeared on the runway of Adelaide's Fashion Festival and working at alteration stores around Adelaide. Here at The Sewing Room we can perform all kinds of repairs and alterations and even provide a dressmaking service for custom made to fit garments.

Casual Dress from $200 + fabric cost
Formal Dress from $400 + fabric cost
*Please note 30% deposit of your quote is required before work will commence and payment must be finalized before pick up of your garment.

Contact us and provide us with pictures for examples or inspiration for what you want made. This will help us provide you with an exact quote for the cost of your garment.

If you decide to move forward we will arrange an appointment for us to take your measurements and discuss further details of your garment like your choice of fabric and how much you will need. At this point a 30% deposit will be required before any work will commence.

We will then draft a pattern for your garment using your measurements and construct a toile (sample made from Calico) and arrange a fitting with you to see how the garment will fit. At this stage we can make any desired changes to the garment before moving forward with your fabric.

We will adjust your pattern according to the prior fitting then cut and make your garment from your desired fabric. From here another fitting will be needed to make sure you are happy with the fit after the adjustments to the pattern. Then you can decide whether you need further adjustment or if you would like us to finish off your garment.

After doing the finishing touches to your garment it will be ready for pick up where you can try it on a final time, finalize payment and take your one off custom made garment home.
