More about The Pioneer Church

Until the early 1900's Oura and district was serviced by the Union Church located back toward Wagga Wagga approx. 4km from the village. Attendees included families from Salvation Army, Methodist, Presbyterian and Anglican churches and enjoyed services from the various denomination ministers on a monthly rotation.

In 1933 the church moved into the Oura village following the construction of a new building opened as 'The Church of the Pioneers' in honour of the original pioneer settlers of the Oura district.

The church continues to serve the Oura district today and shares the same multi denominational flavour as it did with the early pioneers. Attendees include families from Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Catholic and Salvation Army traditions and is open to everyone.

The Pioneer Church has a growing reputation for willingness to explore the various traditions of Australia's Christian heritage while invariably celebrating those things that are found in common.

Pastor Michael (Mick) Baker, an ordained minister with CRC Churches International, has a heart for small rural communities and along with his wife,Karen, and their two children has supported the Oura community since 2012.
