More about The Orchard Counselling Service

At the Orchard Counselling Service, we are a collective of social workers providing counselling. We also work collaboratively and individually to provide practitioner supervision, workshops and training. We are committed to respectful and ethical practices as social workers governed by the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) values and Code of Ethics.

We celebrate diversity and warmly welcome LGBTIQ, ATSI and people of all faith denominations and ethnicities.

Our counselling approach is tailored to each persons unique situation and needs. We consult with people to recognise and resolve the problems they are experiencing and to improve their quality of life. We recognise the broader implications of a person experiencing distress and the impact this can have on friends, family, work and education

We provide counselling to individuals, couples, families and groups, and we have experience and training in Narrative Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Therapies, CBT, Grief and Bereavement Counselling, Trauma Therapy and Family Therapy.

We have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly around all presentations and complexities. We are approved providers of Victims Support Services "Victims of Crime Counselling" which is a free counselling program for those impacted by a violent crime in NSW (historical or recent victims of crime). We are also NDIS approved.

Anyone can contact us and book an appointment as a private client without a referral, if they do not require a Medicare/DVA rebate. As registered providers of focussed psychological strategies via the Medicare program, we provide counselling under a GP mental health care plan, team care arrangement and are approved providers of non-directive pregnancy support counselling (which is also Medicare rebated).

If a Medicare or DVA rebate is required, make an appointment to see your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist and ask for mental health care plan and/or a referral letter.

We welcome you to give us a call, or send us an email to discuss any aspect of what we offer, or to start a conversation about how we can collaborate and work together.

Warmly,
Anne Walker, Lesley Grant and Rowena Usher.
