Once upon a time,...a long time ago, a very loving Mother taught her daughter how to sew. From those early evenings and days spent together sharing this gentle art, there sprang a passion for fabric, threads and design that has grown to "life-size" proportions. In 2007, a chance encounter with two women elegantly attired in gracious kaftans, inspired a renewed interest in design and launched an ongoing love affair with silk and natural fibers for relaxed tropical living. After building a small home based business creating beautiful kaftans and attending to alterations and repairs of customers favourite items of clothing, life and circumstance has led to the opening of a tiny "Atelier" (French for 'workshop') in the outskirts of the city. The small corner building has one room for creating and a tiny boutique for fitting and displaying. With louvred windows on both sides there is plenty of breeze and a wonderful abundance of inspirational light! Keen to co-ordinate with fellow artisans, the boutique also showcases beautiful handcrafted jewellery by Blue Mallee and exquisite clutch purses by Debra Rogers.
