ABOUT US
The Magpie Tearoom and Cafe' is Merbein's newest business enterprise. Our families have operated various businesses in Victoria since 1994 and has been associated with the local area (Birdwoodton/Merbein) for over a century. We are open day Tuesday to Friday from 9.00am to 3.00pm, Saturday from 9.00am to 1.00pm and then again on Merbein Market Days from 8.00am to 1.00pm. We also open on Mondays and at other times for private bookings.

OUR CAFE
This is a peaceful space where friends can meet over breakfast, lunch or simply a drink. We pride ourselves on using premium quality ingredients, sourced locally as much as possible. Our menu is based on fresh seasonal produce; meals are appealing to the eye and tastebuds whilst reasonably priced.

CATERING
Catering is available for smaller parties, office functions etc.

OUR PRESERVES
Our philosophy is to create each batch as if we were making preserves for ourselves, our family and friends. We prefer to cook quickly and in small batches to capture the pure flavour of our ingredients. Some of our creations are allowed to simmer a little longer to achieve the perfect flavour and texture.
All of our goods are hand-made, using premium quality ingredients. The recipes we use have been created by us and there are always many family members who are willing to taste-test new products and offer suggestions. Samples are always available for potential customers to try before they buy at each market, a policy we firmly believe in.
In keeping with our hand-made philosophy and our affiliation with growers in the Sunraysia area, we try to source as much produce as possible.

HISTORIC SUNRAYSIA
Damian has a keen interest in historic photos of the Sunraysia and greater Victoria and South Australian areas. A wide variety of framed and unframed prints; magnets and postcards are available for purchase.
