The Food Centre is a "Not for Profit" and registered Charity organisation that was originally founded in 1990 to establish and operate a Food Centre for the residents of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the surrounding areas, experiencing financial difficulties or hardships in meeting their material and associated emotional and spiritual needs, through providing low cost nutritional food and provisions to persons in financial need.

Proof of Income:

No, not required and you will not be asked to provide it.

While our service is commonly seen as a service for people on low incomes we are open to all members of the community.

Bread

Bread is donated and collected by a very special band of volunteers from various bakeries in the northern suburbs. Each day the quantity of bread delivered varies and it becomes necessary to apply a limit per person. Please be considerate of our customers and take only what you need. Supply after public holidays is very limited.

Volunteering

The Food Centre is dependent on its army of local volunteers to provide assistance and service to the organisation and the local community – without their support, it would be very difficult to continue.
If you would like to become one of our volunteers there are many opportunities available. Please contact our office on (08) 8262 7345 to arrange an appointment for a casual interview.

Assistance for People in Need

The Food Centre cannot issue any relief vouchers however we cooperate and work with other poverty relief agencies and we do accept their food relief vouchers.
