The Fighting Spirit Gym

The Fighting Spirit Gym is owned and run by Kyokushin Karate Instructor Shihan Mark Tyson, 5th Dan, who has been training since 1983 and instructing others since 1988.

Shihan Tyson was the first person to bring a variety of fighting styles in to Tamworth in 1988/90 such as Kickboxing and Muay Thai and to intergrate these styles into his own dojo, with many students of his becoming champions in these sports.

Shihan Tyson was also the first person to Promote Full Contact Karate, Kickboxing and Muay Thai (Modified Rules) to Tamworth & the Northern region of NSW in 1992, at The Tamworth Workmens Club, showcasing his defense of his WKA Welterweight Title as well as going onto promote 2 more shows in 1993 & 1994.
