The Farmer's Pantry

Sometimes, I feel as if I am on auto pilot. I go to my local supermarket and scour the aisles I know for the produce I ‘think’ I know.

The porterhouse steaks, the free range chicken thighs, the extra virgin olive oil – all with a familiar looking label whereby I think should only be the right produce for me.

I now want to challenge this. I want to know what I consume. I want to know what I bring
home to my family will be of nutritional value, of taste, of quality, of a sense of nature.

No longer will I be ignorant to this. No longer will I just assume. It is my role to provide only
the best on the kitchen table. It is my duty to find only the best produce.

And the quest begins. It begins deep at the roots. This is where it all starts - the land, the
farmers, the makers, the providers. It is here where the flavours live.

It sounds so simple. But is it? How does one who feels so distant to the land of the food
have access to this raw produce?
