The Dabbling Poulteress

In 2015 we moved into a lovely house on a large almost 1/2 acre block in Port Stephens NSW, Australia. We got started clearing up the yard which was very overgrown. Then we threw some seeds and seedling into the veggie garden with only some success. Those early days in the yard were hard work!

My knowledge of keeping chickens and ducks, and growing vegetables was almost non-existent until one morning on a whim I convinced my ever patient husband to buy 4 Isa Brown chickens and that’s where the story of our little backyard farm began. I was hooked! I have been dabbling with all sorts of homesteading initiatives ever since.

I have heaps to learn and I’m super excited about the prospect. I welcome your advice, experiences and questions and in return I’ll share what’s going on here in my backyard.
