The Courtyard Cafe

The Sustainable Plate has opened at The Courtyard to bring our love of freshly prepared food to Tenterfield. Our philosophy is that food should be made from the freshest produce possible, not simply assembled from a packet purchased in the supermarket, and that you should source your food from as close to home as possible. For this reason all of the breads, pastas, jams, *sauces, pastries, ice creams and more, are made right here on the premises, fresh for you to enjoy. Apart from feeding our love of cooking, it also allows us to ensure that we use minimum sugars (for example our jams have 75% less sugar than most), and the food has no preservatives. This means you can rest assured that the food is freshly prepared, cooked or baked, as without preservatives, we simply can't store the foods for long periods. As animal welfare is one of our priorities, our meats come from sustainable, free range farms. We source all of our food produce from an area that is strictly within a 200km radius. As Tenterfield and surrounds has such an abundance of wonderful produce, we have plenty to choose from to keep our menus interesting with regular additions. This fresh food approach does take us a little longer to prepare, our ciabatta for example takes 15 hours from start to finish, but we believe the end product is worth the time and effort. We have a range of gluten free, vegetarian, vegan and downright decadent foods to choose from and we hope you enjoy what we've chosen for the menu.

*We pasteurise all of our eggs for use in our fresh sauces such as mayonnaise, aioli and hollandaise and keep these sauces for no longer than four hours. A new batch is made every four hours. It doesn't get much fresher than that!
