More about The Blue Line Fishermans Retreat

HOW THE "TREEVIEW" BECAME "THE BLUE LINE"
( Short version - Heather cut all the trees down ! )

The Treeview Apartments have existed since the early 50s in Pt Vincent
Originally built in a communal arrangement - each owner helping the other to complete a unit.
Families used them as a group getaway and the associated land was considerable bigger than it is today.
As the units became used less and sold off, they transmogrified into a strata group
And that is pretty much as you see them today.
Heather and I were looking for a place out of the city - no more thin 2.5 hrs
We had a list of things that we wanted as we had no history of shack ownership or holidaying.
Easy to Maintain or Strata ….. We did not want to become a slave to our shack
Lock up and walk away ….. Secure and self contained
Good fishing …. Good swimming …. Good boat ramp ….. Good pub ……. Good beach ….. Dog friendly
(not necessarily in that order)
We found what we were looking for (Unit 4) and purchased it above market but reasonable
and then the fun started.
Most of the other owners had lost interest or due to ill health were not using their units.
The strata fees were cheep but didn’t cover the upkeep so it was working bees for maintenance.
The only problem was that it was mostly us alone and/or one other aged couple that turned up.
So …… As opportunity presented itself - we purchased 5 out of the 6 units.
We were doing all the work anyway ….. And over a year we have transformed them.
We have tried to make for you, what we wanted our original unit to be.
Good year round fishing with boat wash and fish cleaning facility's on site. Ample car / boat parking
Good swimming - Pontoon in bay during summer - safe protected waters
Good boat ramp - all weather marina with floating jetty and ample trailer parking
Great pub - Cold beer - Good range of wine - fab food and oysters to die for
A choice of beaches - High tide swimming - low tide crabbing (in season)
We both like dogs … we are dog friendly … but alas, some of the units are not.
WELCOME TO THE BLUELINE FISHERMANS RETREAT - PORT VINCENT
"a place where fishing and family meet"

Its our pleasure to welcome you to our holiday units and we hope that you will find the facilities
comfortable and that the environment adds to the overall enjoyment of your holiday.
I will take a moment now to run through the basic facilities common in each unit.

AIR CONDITIONING AND CEILING FANS
Each unit has a reverse cycle, inverter wall mounted air conditioner.
The remotes are wall mounted and should be left in there cradles when not in use, and when checking out.
The instructions are with each unit and we ask that the air conditioners be turned off as you depart.

KITCHEN STOVES, COOK TOPS AND REFRIDGERATORS.
The refrigerator will be clean running when you arrive. The ovens may be turned off at the wall isolation switch.
Please do not keep bait and burley in the unit fridges - There is a fridge in "Ol Stinky" for that.

KETTLE, TOASTER, SANDWHICH MAKER, ELETRIC FRYING PAN
In the cupboard or on the bench top. Please do not use metal implements on any non-stick items.

BEDDING
All beds will have mattress protectors, Quilts with covers and pillows with pillow cases. There are spare blankets and pillows in the cupboard, enough for the beds available in each unit.

TELEVISION AND DVD PLAYER, CLOCK RADIO AND MP3
These items are new and have been electrically checked. Remotes are with each unit as required.
A "USB" extension has been installed to help attach any portable drives with movies that you may have with you.
Instructions for each item will be present in the unit.

BBQ
Each unit has a dedicated BBQ. The age and condition will depend on the unit but all are serviceable.
Please ensure that your the bottle is attached correctly.
A gas bottle is with each unit. Please remember to turn it off at the bottle after use. Notify AOY if the bottle is empty.

RUBBISH BINS
RED LID - General rubbish
Please double rap all fish carcases prior to binning.
If you are renting over the bin collection day, please put out the bin if there is waste in it
YELLOW LID - Recycling
Located in common areas. Please recycle where possible. Refundable bottles can be placed in bins provided.
All money from bottles and cans is donated to local charitable causes.
GREEN LID - Garden waste.
Located in common areas. Should not need to be used by guests but they are there if you need them.

DOGS - DOGS - DOGS - DOGS - DOGS
We have dogs and our dogs will be with us when we are present on site.
For the most part, the units are not dog friendly. Unit 4 however is fenced and could be available
by prior negotiation. We take the cleanliness of the facilities seriously and monitor the comings and goings of our dogs and clean up after them. A Poop-Scoop is available and dog waste bags are in unit 4.
We reserve the right to be picky about breed and occupancy levels in making our decision.
Hypocrisy or breed biased has nothing to do with it. The comfort of the majority is the priority.
In any event. No dogs allowed inside the units by prior arrangement or not.

COMMON AREA FACILITIES.

LAUNDRY
There is a common laundry building separate from the units bordering on a paved area.
There are 2 washing machines and a dryer with 2 washing lines just out side the door.
There is an iron and ironing board. Please keep the area tidy and respect the other users property.

BOAT WASH AREA.
The boat wash area is located at the top of driveway #1. There is enough room for 2 boat / vehicle combinations.
There are 2 hoses for motor flush and 1 for washing down. Ensure that the motor is hanging past the open drain.
There is a bin for any rubbish unloaded from the boat and a cold shower for a rinse off if required.
Please turn off all taps when finished and don’t be wasteful with the water.

"OL STINKY" FISH CLEANING SHED
There is a large stainless table with a sink and hose available. Please clean up after you have finished and remove all fish waste, double bag and dispose of in red bins. There is a colander solids catcher over the drain bucket under the sink drain. Please empty once finished washing down and flush with clean water. The fridge is there for bait, burley and fish. Please dispose of any unused or unwanted in the bins.
There is an electric stove in the shed and a BBQ out front for cooking crabs. Please do not cook crabs in the units.
Large pots are available in the shed. Please clean and return once finished.

CAR / BOAT PARKING
There is plenty of room for secure, off street parking for boat / vehicle combinations. Please back in against the fence and do not obstruct any vehicles parked there. There is lighting for early starters and late finishers. There is some electrical outlets for trickle chargers and car fridges - access available on request.

GARDENS AND FRUIT TREES
We have planted out the block with trees and plants that will complement the fishing experience.
In season (eventually) there will be limes, lemons and oranges to add a bit of zest to your cooking.
Please only take what you need to cook and don’t fill your pockets as these are there for all visitors.

FIRE PIT AND WOOD
THERE IS A TOTAL FIRE BAN FROM 15th NOVEMBER UNTIL THE 30th APRIL - NO FIRES ALLOWED DURING THIS TIME
During the times that fires are allowed, there is a fire pit and access to a stock pile of cut wood. (while it lasts)
We ask that guests show some restraint in the size of the fire and respect for the fact that the wood supply is limited.
There is to be no lighting of fires anywhere but the area provided and the combustion heater at unit 5.
THE WOOD IS FOR USE ON SITE BY GUESTS ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE REMOVED

NO SMOKING INSIDE - PLEASE USE THE ASHTRAYS PROVIDED AND EMPTY ON DEPARTURE,

AND AT THE END OF A GREAT HOLIDAY, WE WOULD BE GREATFUL IF YOU WOULD ….
Remove all food from fridge and freezer and wipe up any spills.
Give the benches a quick wipe down and the floor a quick sweep
Turn off the same electrical items that were turned off when you arrived.
Shut the windows and replace any locking sticks that are present.
Remove all bait and fish bits that you have put in the fridge in Ol Stinky
