The Birkenhead Tavern

The Birkenhead Tavern has that warm and friendly atmosphere where all members of the family can enjoy lunch or dinner at reasonable prices as well as gaming and bar facilities.

Opened in 1878, the Birkenhead historical tavern is the only tavern situated on the banks of the Port River, opposite the Port Adelaide docks.

As you'd expect, much has changed since The Birk opened in 1878, but it still has its local characters in the Riverview bar, always willing to tell you a few stories, which have been handed down over the years about The Birk, the ghosts and the tunnels, which supposedly run throughout Port Adelaide.

The Birk has a reputation for serving quality meals from its extensive menu at prices to suit the whole family by the Birk's friendly staff, whether it’s in the bistro, the Riverview bar or on the all weather deck overlooking the Port River.
