WHY YOGA?
Where do we start? Amongst the numerous health benefits you can gain from practising yoga, it provides you time to reconnect with the mind & body and helps you build strength, whilst stretching & toning the body.

Yoga encourages a calm mind, facilitates better posture, releases tension, refreshes & rejuvenates the body, reduces fatigue, inspires you towards better health and can open the mind to a more positive outlook on life and the way we live it.

Yoga is sometimes misconceived as a practise for people who are already flexible and can bend their limbs into all different shapes…. but in the real world, this is not so. If you think you cannot ‘do’ yoga because you are not flexible then yoga is in fact perfectly suited to you.


WHY THE BASE YOGA?
Our aim is to offer the practise of yoga to anyone craving some chill out time, helping you to reconnect with mind & body in this technological mad, fast paced world we live in.

We deliver our classes in a fun, light hearted and supportive environment.

No matter what it is you need to gain from your yoga practise, we offer a welcoming space, free of judgement, simply for you to come and enjoy your yoga class as we guide you through it.

We assist you to get your body moving, your mind reconnected and your soul full of love and happiness. If we can make one person smile and feel great about their self, then we have achieved our goal.


STYLE OF YOGA:
As we are a new business offering the goodness of yoga to anyone in the community, we currently provide GENERAL FLOW classes. In 2016, we have added a CORE strengthening class as well as RESTORATIVE. We focus on safety and alignment whilst strengthening and stretching the body, during a flowing asana class.
Our classes are suitable for both beginners and practising yogi’s as we provide variations throughout the class to suit your fitness level.


ATTENDING YOUR FIRST CLASS:
If it is your first time attending The Base Yoga ~ WELCOME!
We ask you to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to scheduled class time to complete a New Student Welcome Form and get settled in.

It is not essential to book, however feel free to let us know you are attending so we can have everything ready for you on your first class.

Although we don’t want to inflict too many rules for our students at The Base Yoga, there is an etiquette that should be followed whilst participating in yoga classes. Please have a quick read below:


WHAT DO I WEAR?
We simply encourage you to wear easy-fit clothing or activewear so you can move freely and be comfortable.

Ladies generally wear a singlet or t-shirt, yoga leggings/ shorts or lightweight pants.
Men generally wear a singlet or t-shirt, supportive shorts (example - bike shorts under sports shorts are recommended) or lightweight pants.

Shoes & socks and hats & beanies must be removed during your practise.

To be mindful of others, we ask you to ensure you freshen up before attending class, especially if borrowing a studio mat.

Please limit the use of strong smelling perfume as this could be distracting and unpleasant for others.


WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
✓ A drink bottle with lid (Glass bottles are not permitted for safety reasons)
✓ A yoga mat (We supply mats, free of charge, if you do not have one)
✓ A towel (If you are prone to sweating)
✓ Class fee must be paid in CASH at the beginning of every class.


EATING PRIOR TO CLASS:
It is recommended you eat a light meal more than an hour or so prior to your class. We do not want you attending a class on an empty stomach, as you will need energy to perform your asana practise.


MOBILE PHONES:
Please ensure your mobile phone is switched OFF once entering your class. If you feel the need to keep it turned on, your mobile MUST be on silent mode and NO vibration. This is your time to relax with no distraction from the outside world. It is NOT acceptable to check your phone during class.


YOGA PROPS:
JUST IN! BRAND NEW YOGA PROPS!
We encourage you to bring along your own yoga mat for your own comfort and use. However, studio mats are supplied for anyone who does not own their own mat. We ask you to clean down your borrowed studio mat after use - we supply cleaning spray & clean wipes to do this.

All eye pillows have their covers washed after every use to ensure maximum hygiene.

Blocks, blankets, straps & bolsters are also supplied when required during classes. (Please note: bolsters are limited due to limited onsite storage.)


CLASS TYPES:
GENERAL BASE FLOW: Flowing yoga class suitable for all levels.
~ 75 minutes class.

HARDCORE CLASS: this class is an intensive vinyasa flow set to funky tunes to uplift you & your practise to the next level, whilst concentrating on toning & strengthening the physical body. Not suitable for beginners or injuries.
~ 60 minute class.

RESTORATIVE CLASS: slows & restores the mind & body through long hold stretching, soft music & guided relaxation methods.
~ 60 minutes class.
