The Art House

The Art House brings together a comfortable vacation home in the heart of the village of Newrybar and our passion for original Art by Australian contemporary artists, with pop-up contemporary art exhibitions every 6 to 8 weeks.

THE REGION:
Byron Bay and its environs, within the Northern Rivers region of NSW, is home to a high population of creative people working in all sorts of sectors of the Arts. It is also amongst Australia's most picturesque regions with a divers...ity of landscapes - from the beaches of Byron Bay and Lennox Head to the rainforests and farmlands of the hinterland.

The area is dotted with hamlets and villages - all with their own unique character - for locals and tourists to explore. There is a healthy culture of fresh food and arts and craft markets, cafes and restaurants, art galleries and many other local gems to come upon.

THE VILLAGE:
The historic village of Newrybar is a collection of such gems. Harvest Cafe and its associated bakery and deli is a local hub that attracts people from far and wide with its delicious culinary offerings. Harvest has recently been awarded a one hat by the Good Food Guide. Harvest is ‘100 step journey’ from the front door of the Art House.

There is also one of the best delis around, a funky clothing store (Driftlab), a general store here too, and antique centre and our lovely little hall (School of Arts) which hosts community and private events all year round.

THE HOUSE:
The Art House offers visitors to our beautiful region a place to stay in this lovely and lively place. Even though it's located right in the village with its quaint street frontage and beautiful country garden, it is very much rooted in a picturesque rural landscape viewed from the rear of the property.

The home comprises three bedrooms and beautifully-renovated living spaces, kitchen and bathroom - perfect for families and small groups who appreciate country leisure, fine dining and being close to all that Byron Bay and its region have to offer. The bathroom has a large bath which looks out through a plate glass floor to ceiling window at rolling hills, grazing cattle and horses.

The home is also an ever-changing gallery of original artworks, selected and curated by our friends at The Channon Gallery - located about 45 minutes to the north-west (on the tourist route to Nimbin).

THE ART:
Village stays at The Art House provide not only a picturesque and convenient location, but also an opportunity to live with some quite remarkable original artworks, sourced from some the best of Northern Rivers artistic talents and artists from elsewhere in Australia.
