What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that lifts stains off teeth from years of ageing and stains from coffee, smoking, drinking, medications, red wine etc. It works by using a special oxidizing agent called Hydrogen Peroxide, when this is applied to the teeth it breaks down into oxygen molecules that go inside the pores of the teeth and lift the stains. In no way does it paint the teeth it simply lifts stains to return teeth to their natural colour tone.

Can I eat and drink immediately after a treatment with Teeth Whitening Sydney ?

We advise customers to not eat or drink anything but water for the first 60 minutes after the treatment as the pores of your enamel stay open for this period. For best results we also advise you to avoid anything that might stain your teeth for a period of 24 hours.

How long will my teeth stay white after the treatment?

It will vary from person to person however with good dental hygiene and avoiding foods and drinks that stain it is possible for the whitening to last up to 6 months.

Will it work on Veneers, Crowns and other dental work?

The treatment will only clean the surface of dental work by removing stains. It will not change the original colour of the dental work it will just go back to the colour it was when applied by your dentist.

Can anyone do this treatment?

We do not offer this treatment to people under 18 years of age or women who are pregnant.

Who should NOT do this treatment?

Pregnant women - People with poor enamel or decalcification caused by excessive use of fluorides. - People with periodontal disease including gingivitis or gums in poor condition - People who wear braces - People who recently had oral surgery - People with decaying teeth or exposed roots - People with open cavities - People with a history of allergic reactions to peroxide products - People under the age of 18.
