Technics Sl1200/1210 Service & Mods - Melbourne

Hi, Greg here from Technics Melbourne I have been servicing, modifying, customising and repairing Technics SL1200 / SL1210 turntables for over 16 years now. I also source Technics SL12xx turntables, service them and offer them up for sale from time to time. I can do just about anything to a Technics SL12xx turntables weather it be just a basic service to full customisation of the turntables. I also carry most parts new and second hand so that I can get your Technics up and running again with little down time. In most cases I can do the service/repair/modifying on the spot while you wait and I am available most of the time 7 days a week 10am to 10pm so I am very flexible.

The areas of services I provide are the following :-

1: General servicing of Technics Turntables
Routine maintenance consists of a basic service for as little as $45 each turntable, which is usually all that is needed (largely due to the fact that the most common fault on a Technics deck is the RCA cable) and includes new, better “Oxygen Free Copper” RCA’s that produces a far better signal over the standard RCA cable and can be made lengthier cables (up to 2.5 meters for better use with Serato/Traktor boxes so you can place them alongside the DJ rig), internally earthing the ground wire and a pitch fader calibration. I also lube up the platter bearing shaft and check tonearm pivot for play and adjust accordingly

2: Repair, Renew and Replace faulty parts
If your Technics SL12xx turntable is doing something it should not, like not keeping consistent speed, not powering up, popup light not working, tonearm skipping on the record or weird platter movements it can often be caused by faulty parts. I can either repair or replace any components that are faulty, for example pitch faders, lights, tonearms, cables and wiring. I offer free quotes on inspection of faulty equipment.

3, Modify Technics Turntables
Modifications like changing the LED lights which I have done mostly either blue or white LED’s but can get other colours in if requested. Also I can remove the click at 0 on SL1200mk2/SL1210mk2 so its smooth all the way through and give you the option of having the pitch reset (often confused as Quartz Locking) LED light still come on or I can disengage it.

4: Customisation and Refurbishment
To go full custom/refurbish which requires complete strip down of the decks, paint stripping of the tops and tonearm parts, powder coating of the tops, painting the tonearm, painting the around the platter dots around the rim and around the tonearm base to a custom colour of your choice, new pitch decals for the fader, new pitch fader under felt to stop gunk getting into the fader itself and the basic service doing the RCA’s, with the modify of changing the LED lights
