Teaching Tools for Tots- making learning fun and meaningful

My Background

I am an experienced teacher of nearly 20 years and have taught in the Public, Catholic and Independent School Systems.
I have recently been teaching numeracy and literacy in the early years at university. I am currently curriculum coordinator at Hurstville Adventist School.
Most importantly I have a seven year old daughter starting Year 2 and a five year old son starting Kindergarten in 2017. They are my inspiration for starting up Teaching Tools for Tots. I would like to share my knowledge, experience and skills with other parents/ carers so that more children gain a love of learning from an early age and so they have more opportunities to learn and become curious about the world around them.

I started ‘Teaching Tools for Tots’ after many conversations with my good friends from playgroup. I ran a few workshops for playgroup mothers and the feedback was very positive. Many of the mothers said they wanted to help their children but were not confident or sure where to start. I did some research and realised that there were very few courses to guide parents on how they could support their child’s learning in areas such as reading, writing and mathematics.
