TAP AgriCo Stockfeeds

Tasmanian Agricultural Producers Pty Ltd (TAP) was established in 2006 by a group of 10 dedicated farmers to export canola directly from Tasmania to Japan. Since 2006, the group of 10 has expanded to form a Proprietary Limited company of 16 shareholders, all of which have agricultural and business interests in Tasmania.

In December 2010, TAP made an important and strategic commitment to the Tasmanian grains industry with the purchase of grain storage facilities at Powranna, consisting of both upright metal corrugated aerated silos and bunker storages. This provides TAP with a high degree of flexibility and a combined total storage capacity of 17,500 tonnes. Further additional storage is leased at Carrick, consisting of approximately 10,000 MT of upright aerated storages and TAP has additional storage facilities at Devonport under a lease providing access to feed grain for the North West Tasmanian stockfeed industry and malting grain for malt processing at Quoiba.

In April 2011, TAP appointed their first full time staff consisting of a General Manager and a Site & Logistics Manager. Both David Skipper and Dallas Kotrba have had many years of experience and history in the grains, stockfeed and broader agricultural industry. David has been recently appointed as Managing Director of TAP. Both David and Dallas are supported on a part-time basis by Rae Dowling, a qualified accountant. Rae executes all the back office functions, financial control and is the Company Secretary.

TAP has consistently and strategically expanded its operations from the original 2,000 metric tonne supply of canola to a single Japanese customer in 2006, to supplying in excess of 25,000MT of wheat and barley to various large end users such as Tasmanian Feedlot, Lion Nathan (Boags Brewery), Pure Foods Eggs, Nichols Poultry, and many individual dairy and pork producer customers spread throughout the state of Tasmania. TAP is locally owned and operated with substantial loyal support and supply from over 120 Tasmanian cereal and oilseed producers.

TAP has invested significantly into assuring quality and accurate reporting. TAP has in excess of $100,000 of grain testing assets in a purpose built laboratory, situated at Powranna. TAP also has grain analysis testing at Carrick and is able to accurately report on all commodities, data for individual loads or broader stack averages and high level inventory control, which is all processed through their Grain Trader 3 program. All test equipment, scales and weighbridges are regularly independently checked, calibrated and verified.
