ABOUT THE GROUP:

Tania Torture is an affectionate phrase that was coined during my early days as a Group Trainer for the weight loss group "No Limits". It stemmed from the wide range of exercise choices that I used... and the fact that I rarely presented the same class format twice!

Torture in itself? not so much... for me exercise shouldn't make you want to vomit or pass out... it should create muscle discomfort and push you outside of your comfort zone... but rarely into the "yuck zone".

Right from the start I decided that to exercise meant to try something different and exciting each time. That is what makes me want to start the session! The anticipation of what types of exercises will be on today and what will they work?!

In reality my class is a wide range of exercises, both familiar and new, with lots of levels to cater for beginners to advanced.

The outcomes of the class are always fairly similar, with a long term goal of cardio and strength sessions. This way the class is suitable for those who want weight loss calorie burning sessions, to those who are looking for an increase in strength, flexibility and power.

My combination of exercises maintains high heart rate for short intervals, whilst incorporating high repetition resistance training for toning muscles.

There is only a small focus placed on "weights training" as is normally perceived to be the role of a Personal Trainer.

My own weight loss journey taught me that getting to the gym is only hurdle one... actually putting in enough effort to see results is bigger hurdle number 2. No-one wants to exercise for weeks and see no change in body shape or size!

Training in a group with like minded people helps to break through the "class commitment" barrier and produce a better result than working alone. You can feed off each other, push each other along and if need be laugh at each other when an exercise doesn't quite go to plan.

There is also a very low co-ordination requirement for this type of exercise. This is not "Group Fitness" in its normal sense with choreography and musical timing. Everyone can self pace. They can also ask for variations to exercises to suit their own personal fitness or injury. In a Group Fitness class you would have to hope there was an alternative coming... or make it up as you go (tho some of my clients still do... thanks for next weeks ideas!).

So for anyone brand new to fitness, opposed to fitness or looking to push to a new level in fitness... this is the group for you.

I am always looking to add more classes to my schedules, however location is one of the biggest issues. With winter approaching I will be reducing the outdoor training in favour of halls/venues. This is not a bootcamp! Therefore I don't want to exercise in the rain :)

If you absolutely can't make the Group times, but can organise your own small group of friends I can arrange private sessions over the weekend or early evening. Please contact me for prices and times.

I will also be creating a "Weight Loss Walkthru" package which will include initial assessment and education. It will set you up with a timetable for success and can be combined with all types of exercise providers/nutrition suppliers and support groups. Specifically I hope to provide a product to those "At Home Mums" who only have the short time whilst kids are at school/napping to do something for themselves. More information soon!

Unfortunately I do not do 1on1 Personal Training due time commitments with children and other employment.

ABOUT ME:

My name is Tania and I am a Group Trainer first and a Personal Trainer second. In 2009 I turned 30 and weighed 96kg... something in my brain turned that constant wish of "wanting to lose weight" to the determined "I have already started to lose weight".

I had put off doing anything for myself for over 10 years of my life and wasn't willing to spend another 10 years starting every morning gung-ho about weight loss and finishing every evening regretting what I ate or did that day.

It was my ability to get though that roller coaster that fuelled my desire to become a trainer as well. The old saying of "I can do it, so can you" is so true. But we all need help and most of us need it to be affordable.

I began working as Group instructor for Genesis Kelmscott, then Armadale Arena, then... well yes that list goes on and on. Group instructing showed me an alternative to "hours and hours" of exercise alone on a treadmill... which made me realise that if we could also bring a personal level to the class then you are going to get the best of both worlds!!!

It was at that stage I also began the Personal Training component of my career, with the weight loss group No Limits. This allowed my imagination to run wild and so began the wide variety of classes I run today.

I am a mum of 3 children Devon, Riley and Shailah. They are full time students and three extremely different personalities. If your lucky Shailah may stroll on by to take training sometime, apparently she shows me all my "good moves".

I wear lots of hats!!! I am a Gemini which should explain quite a bit.... I am a Financial Adviser, a Medical Scientist, a Cake Decorator, a Writer, a Dancer and a Mum... Which one I do the most depends on the day, but whatever I am doing I do to best of my ability. I think that is the big test at the end of our lives... did you give it a go? Was the go the best one you could offer?

If I get to answer yes, then I'm on the right path.
