Stroud, just 50 minutes North of Newcastle, is a township has a population of some 600, growing to around 5,000 for the weekend of the Rodeo, held in September each year.
The Stroud Rodeo is a premier event included in the top Ten in Australia attracting over 800 competitors and 1000 entries. Events include Bull Riding, Bronco Riding, Bulldogging and Barrel Racing. A full Campdrafting program is also held in conjunction with the Rodeo.
A “Maximum Points” venue on the National Circuit, the Stroud Rodeo puts forward prize money of over $30,000. The event enables donations to various charities which have exceeded $350,000 since its inception with Cancer research being the main beneficiary.
The Stroud Rodeo is an international standard venue providing all weather seating for spectators.
