Stockhaven Australian Stock Horses

This is a short story about the stud prefix of 'Stockhaven'

The Stockhaven prefix has been registered for many years. Our ASHS registration is 894, one of the oldest membership numbers within the society. The prefix takes its name from Stockhaven station at Ban Ban Springs in the central Burnett where our breeding programme began in 1983.

Later we were based at Lyndale, our property near Biggenden, before moving to Hinton at Crows Nest in 2008.
We have a small breeding operation with the aim of producing three to six foals a year. Some are sold as yearlings, whilst others are broken in and some of these are campaigned at a variety of stock horse shows and futurities. A few select mares are retained and the balance of both mare and geldings are sold.

At Hinton we have good facilities for running a small breeding operation. We have irrigated pasture and grow our own lucerne to feed our horses. Our facilities cater for two stallions housed in separate areas on the property. Both Peter and Kerrie are accredited stock horse judges. Peter is an experienced equine veterinarian and does all scanning for pregnancy, as well as equine dentistry.

Peter has recently been elected onto the ASH Board of Directors for South East Qld.

We also accept mares for AI breeding to outside stallions using chilled or frozen semen.
