Steve has been working in the Addictions and Mental Health Field for 29 years currently runs Steve Stokes Counselling Services and Consulting, and works for the Department of Health.
Steve specializes in Developmental Trauma Treatment and Complex PTSD and Affect Regulation and it's relationship to all Addiction Treatment. Steve specializes in Sex Addiction Treatment, Sex , Love and Avoidance addiction Treatment and co-occurring addictions and underlying Developmental Trauma .
As part of Steve Stokes Counselling Services, Steve offers Private therapy,Radical Exposure Therapy, Relationship Counselling, Family Therapy, Interventions, and Supervision and Training in all aspects of treatment for Addictions specializing in Sex addiction Treatment and Co-occurring Addictions and Mental health with a specialty in Relapse Prevention and Developmental Trauma. Steve has expertise in working with Pia Melody's Developmental Immaturity Model for many years, as well as the Shame reduction work of John Bradshaw, the Addiction tools of Dr Patrick Carnes and uses the Somatic Tools of Peter Levine and Pat Ogden. Steve also has been trained by Dr Laurie McKinnon for Radical Exposure Therapy (Tapping Therapy) and Brainspotting by Dr Roby Abeles.
Currently facilitating Mens and Womens Yallom Process Groups.

As part of his private practice has facilitated weekend retreats focusing on recovery issues, menswork, relationships and spirituality. Steve has also appeared as a guest therapist in Television Radio and Print, as well as commentating on PTSD, Developmental Trauma, Addiction and Mental Health Treatment
