Steve Douglas for Champion Bay

My interest is enhancing the Geraldton community. I have served on Council since 2013. I have been, and will continue to be, a fierce advocate for Geraldton and the Ward of Champion Bay. I have renominated to continue the hard work involved in restructuring and rebuilding the City's finances.

Following a a clean out of Councillors at the last 2 elections, it is important now to have some stability and continuity.

My priority for Greater Geraldton is economic and employment growth. Tourism, horticulture, aquaculture and marine services are areas which can help deliver sustainable growth. Innovation and technology can boost the competitiveness of our mining, agriculture and fishing sectors. Capturing more benefit from the SKA and its associated infrastructure (nbn; access to the Pawsey Supercomputer in Perth) also offers significant opportunities to boost our R&D effort.

Within Champion Bay my main focus for Beresford will be to complete the Beresford Enhancement works. While progress has been v slow, I continue to strongly advocate for the revitalisation of Spalding. My key focus for the Webberton light industrial area is to stimulate the local economy and maximise local content in projects and encourage local spending.
