From humble beginnings in 1989 when a group of parents on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast formed to promote opportunities for their children, STEPS has emerged to be a national organisation with offices throughout Australia and continues to be a strong influence for social inclusion in our communities.
At the core of our vision remains not only service delivery to the most disadvantaged groups in our community, but also a recognition that people do not want to branded in a group such as a “person with a disability”, or“indigenous” nor “unemployed”. STEPS is about ‘people’, recognising their value and more importantly assisting everyone, regardless of their circumstances, to contribute more to their community.
