Stepping Stones Music Sessions and Lessons - Kinder and Preschool

Stepping Stones music sessions are designed to engage and inspire young babies and children by giving them a positive first musical experience. The sessions are based on the Kodaly philosophy of music whereby the voice is the primary instrument that a child learns to express him/herself with.

The sessions involve:

Listening and hearing different instruments and/or voice - (violin, guitar, recorder and glockenspiel)

Looking and listening to song stories

Encouraging children to sing and play musical instruments - drum, clave, toy piano/glockenspiel

Interpretative and formal dance movements to music

Teaching children love for one another through the love of music

Song games to help teach a certain skill

Action songs to teach fine and gross motor skills



The sessions are adapted based on the weekly curriculum depending on the different ages of the children. For babies more time is spent listening/hearing different instruments/voice and looking/listening to song stories. As the children grow and learn to vocalise emphasis is placed on encouraging them to sing and play the instruments.



My goal as a musical educator is to teach children love for one another through the love of music. I aim to keep lessons positive and enjoyable for the children, staff (if present) and myself.
