Stanley Grammar School was a school for boys and girls, located in the South Australian Clare Valley town of Watervale. It was opened in 1863 by teacher, educator and former temporary headmaster J. S. Cole. The school was a two-storey building and offered courses in chemistry, assaying, surveying, linear and perspective drawing, brokerage discount and commission, book-keeping, and field subjects. The school operated as a night school for some time.Cole retired in 1904 and died in 1916. The school continued to operate until 1917, when it closed. The building was abandoned for almost thirty years, then sold at action. The building has operated as a restaurant and as a bed and breakfast accommodation.
